"I think" - Roy Keane on Liverpool's squad depth vs Man City's
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane believes that Liverpool's squad depth is now stronger than Manchester City's.
The Citizens have dominated English football in recent times. Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, they have won three of the past four Premier League titles.
Despite that being the case, Keane is under the impression that Liverpool possess more quality off the bench in comparison to Manchester City.
“I think Liverpool’s squad is stronger now,” Keane told ITV Sport. “I think so. More quality off the bench, especially their attacking players.
“I know they have the momentum, at the moment. But Man City are still quality.
“But, in terms of the strength in depth, I think we saw that (in the FA Cup semi-final). Obviously, they had to make one or two more changes because of the midweek game.
“But I think their squad is better, Liverpool’s.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
All we will say is that Liverpool and Manchester City possess very strong squads. There is a reason why both teams have been streets ahead of every other side in the Premier League for the past four years.
But, there is no denying that Liverpool have strengthened in recent times. Since the summer of 2020, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz have been added to the squad.
You can never possess too many good footballers in your squad. The manager having headaches around selection means that there is a strong core of players at the club.
On another note, Liverpool have already won the League Cup this season. However, the Reds are in contention to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, also.
Due to the fact that Jurgen Klopp has plenty of quality footballers at his disposal, there is no reason why his team can't secure the quadruple this season.
