“I think Liverpool will win the league" - Gary Neville on the title race

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes that Liverpool will win the 2021-22 Premier League title.

After 29 matches, the Reds are only one-point behind league leaders Manchester City. Therefore, the Citizens are still best-placed to claim the title.

But, Neville is convinced that the Reds are the favourites to claim the trophy. With that being the case, the 47-year-old is concerned.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, Neville told Sky Sports the following: “I think Liverpool will win the league. They’re dangerous in the other two competitions (Champions League and FA Cup) and I think they’ll do something special because of those five strikers (Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino) they’ve got. “That midfield by the way, when people see the midfield at Liverpool as maybe their weakness - I think it’s their strength. The back and the front are so exceptional. The two full-backs (Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold) are forward all the time, the front three are up there. “The three in midfield, because of their discipline - Fabinho, Thiago (Alcantara), (Jordan) Henderson - their subservient nature to the rest of the players means that they hold everything together. “They’re going to do something dangerous this season, and it’s scary as a Man United fan to say that. I really do worry that they will go on and win three or four trophies, it would concern me. “When I watched them against Arsenal, there is nothing I saw that didn’t tell me they’re going to go and win the title. That is a title-winning performance.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We do agree with Neville that Liverpool have a fantastic chance of winning the 2021-22 Premier League title.

Earlier this year, the Reds were 12 points behind league leaders Manchester City. But, as we have already pointed out, that is no longer the case.

We also agree with Neville's take regarding Liverpool's performance against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium just before the international break.

Despite the pressure of the title race, the Reds looked in complete control against the Gunners. Liverpool won the match 2-0.

But, only time will tell which side will claim the biggest prize in English football.
