"I think he is going to be a talent" - Danny Murphy on Reds youngster

Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has waxed lyrical about new-boy Fabio Carvalho.

The Reds signed the attacking midfielder from Fulham for a transfer fee of £5.31 million earlier this summer.

Carvalho was very good for the Cottagers last season. The 19-year-old scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 38 appearances for Fulham's first-team.

Carvalho also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.12 across 36 Championship appearances.

With that being the case, Murphy believes the Anfield faithful will see a fair bit of the youngster this season.

“The young lad they brought in from Fulham, Carvalho, I think he is going to be a talent,” he told Premier League Productions (06/08/22 at 11:45am).

“I think he will score some goals for them."

Murphy added: “I think you will see more of him than you think. I really do.

“I think he’s creative. He wants the ball and he’s confident. Obviously, you have competition for places.

“But I think people are focusing on (Darwin) Nunez, and actually bringing him in as well, brings an extra option in the attacking areas.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Murphy's take. Carvalho is a talented youngster, so we would not be surprised if he was a regular in Jurgen Klopp's team this season.

Liverpool do play in the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup. Personnel rotation is necessary, which means that everyone in the squad will get an opportunity.

We look forward to seeing how Carvalho develops under the watchful eye of Klopp. Providing the youngster puts the work in, we expect to see him improve quite quickly.
