"I think City are weaker" - Pundit on Liverpool's 2022-23 title hopes

Pundit Andy Goldstein has given his verdict on the 2022-23 Premier League title race.

Despite the fact that champions Manchester City have added goal machine Erling Haaland to their team this summer, the 49-year-old believes that the Citizens are now weaker.

With that being the case, Goldstein has predicted Liverpool to win the title this season.

“I don’t know with Man City, it pains me to say it but the way things are going with the players he’s sold and the new players coming in, but my early favourites are Liverpool,” he said on talkSPORT, as quoted by Anfield Central.

“They’ll be times this season when they’ll look to the bench to want to change things up; (Phil) Foden will be starting, so will (Riyad) Mahrez and Haaland. They’ve got the new kid in (Julian) Alvarez, but he’s untried and untested in this league.

“I know the season hasn’t started and the window hasn’t closed but right now, I think City are weaker.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool are certainly capable of challenging for the Premier League title this season. The Reds only finished one-point behind Manchester City last campaign.

However, the reality is, the Citizens are a top side. They have won four of the past five titles. So, if Liverpool are to claim the prize this season, they will have to be at their very best.

We don't really see how Goldstein can claim Manchester City are now a weaker side. But, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Liverpool have won the league title with Jurgen Klopp at the helm. It would be a shame if the Reds did not win the biggest prize in England again.

This Liverpool side is world-class, so it would certainly be a missed opportunity if they failed to secure another league title.
