“I still can’t believe" - Adam Lallana's verdict on Liverpool's latest signing
Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has given his verdict on the club's latest signing - Luis Diaz.
The Reds signed the winger from Porto for a transfer fee of €45 million during the January transfer window. Diaz has performed well since joining the club.
The 25-year-old has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.74 in the Premier League (four appearances).
Diaz also helped Liverpool win the League Cup against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium at the backend of February.
With that being the case, Lallana has had plenty of good things to say about the Colombia international.
As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Lallana told the BBC the following: “I still can’t believe how well Diaz has settled. I am not sure what his English is like. But coming from a different country in January, and to play the way he has played, is absolutely phenomenal. "I was at Wembley, to see how he performed, I think he was Liverpool’s best player and most dynamic. I actually feel a little embarrassed that I hadn’t heard about him before. "That just shows the level of recruitment at Liverpool. They have been spot on in that kind of £50 million bracket. With [Mohamed] Salah, [Sadio] Mane, [Roberto] Firmino and [Diogo] Jota. They have just got it right.”Anfield Watch Verdict
Lallana is spot on in his assessment of Diaz. It is a well known fact that some foreign players do take a bit of time to settle.
But, as we have already pointed out, Diaz has hit the ground running at Anfield. We look forward to watching the Colombia international in the years to come.
Diaz is only 25 years of age, so it would be fair to assume that he is entering his prime years as a professional footballer.
