Jurgen Klopp has explained what he said to UEFA's president in a recent conversation the pair had.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp responded to Aleksander Ceferin's comments about tickets for the Champions League final.

"I spoke to him. He texted me. I asked why we didn't have more tickets for our people? I have an opinion. I didn't know enough about it," said Klopp.

"It's fine. I said that the reason I am not in a great mood with UEFA is the Nations League. One of the most ridiculous ideas I ever heard.

"I would prefer UEFA took more money from the Champions League final and kick out the Nations League. That is my personal opinion."

Anfield Watch Verdict

This discussion that is getting a lot more publicity than it deserves all started after Klopp questioned UEFA's decision to only give 40 thousand of the available 80 thousand tickets to Real Madrid and Liverpool fans.

UEFA's president, Ceferin then responded by saying; "I explained it to him [Klopp] a bit more and took much more time because I went through every single number. From the revenues from the finals, UEFA gets 6.5 per cent and 93.5 per cent goes to the clubs. From the other matches 100 per cent of the revenues goes to the clubs."

He then finished by saying that UEFA aren't giving the other 40 thousand tickets to their friends and families, most of those tickets go to the sponsors who pay the clubs.

It's very easy to see where both sides are coming from. Klopp isn't involved with the ins and outs of the finances that UEFA give to Liverpool.

He's just a normal guy who sees each club getting 25% of the tickets for a final that his club is playing in.

This isn't an issue that just UEFA needs to deal with, the club's owners, including FSG, all need to sit down with the footballing authorities and put fans first, especially in the biggest game of the season.

Will that happen? Probably not. Money always comes first to these billionaires.
