"I love the guy" - Jurgen Klopp gives his opinion on Pep Lijnders
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his opinion on his assistant Pep Lijnders.
Klopp and Lijnders have worked alongside each other for four consecutive years. In that time, they have helped Liverpool win six major trophies and the Community Shield.
Klopp has praised Lijnders during a recent interview.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told The Athletic the following: “Pep is unique. I’ve never met anyone like him before and I’m not sure I’ll be fortunate enough to do so again. He is studious and coaching-obsessed; he believes in the training process with a passion I’ve never seen before.
"He’s family to me. I love the guy so much."
Anfield Watch Verdict
We are delighted that Klopp has publicly praised Lijnders. The reality is, you need other coaches around you to make things work.
Klopp can't run the show all by himself. Lijnders is a very important person at Liverpool.
Klopp is contracted until the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign. Therefore, if that is to be the German's final season at Anfield, it will be interesting to see where Lijnders' future lies (expected to remain at Anfield until Klopp leaves).
Who knows, he might be offered a managerial position elsewhere before the summer of 2026. Lijnders could potentially replace Klopp at the helm.
These are all hypothetical situations, but you just never know in the world of football. For the time being, we are going to sit back and enjoy the 2022-23 campaign.
Liverpool challenged for the quadruple last season. So, anything is possible this campaign as far as we are concerned.
