"I love him" - Jamie Carragher praises reported Liverpool target
Pundit Jamie Carragher has waxed lyrical about Aston Villa midfielder and reported Liverpool target Jacob Ramsey.
The 21-year-old is a talented lad. Ramsey has found the back of the net seven times and registered three assists in 73 appearances for Aston Villa's first-team.
The Englishman has become a regular in Steven Gerrard's starting lineup. Carragher had the following to say about Ramsey during a recent punditry stint.
“I love him. He’s a super player. He doesn’t look like a young kid playing in a man’s game,” he told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“When you think of the game against Man City, I thought it was interesting that he played as part of the front three, and tonight he played in midfield (against Southampton at Villa Park earlier this season).
“I spoke to Gary McAllister before the game, I said to him: ‘How good is Ramsey?’ And he said he can go right to the top.
“We’re talking about international honours and playing in the Champions League. I think he can certainly play at that level in the next couple of years.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We would love to see Liverpool make a move for Ramsey. The midfielder is a serious talent.
Because of Ramsey's age, he could play in Liverpool's midfield for well over a decade.
The 21-year-old is contracted until the conclusion of the 2026-27 campaign. Therefore, Liverpool will have to spend a bit of money if they wish to secure Ramsey's services.
The Englishman possesses a current market value of £22.50 million. Only time will tell if Liverpool and Ramsey are to cross paths in the near future.
