Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has waxed lyrical about Reds winger Sadio Mane.

The 30-year-old scored the decisive goal (2-1 victory) for Liverpool against Aston Villa at Villa Park last night. The Reds remain in the Premier League title race as a result.

During Sky Sports' coverage of the match, Carragher said that he loves Mane for what he has brought to Liverpool over the years.

The Scouser also praised the Senegal international for his versatility as a player.

“I love him, absolutely love him to bits. And not just because he's a great player and what he's done for Liverpool," he told Sky Sports, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

"He initially came in on the right wing then moved to the left when (Mohamed) Salah arrived.

“(Luis) Diaz comes in on the left, Mane goes to centre-forward. He's always moving for someone else but his performances never drop. It doesn't seem to matter where Mane plays, you get exactly the same from him, the same cannot be said for the rest of the Liverpool attack."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Carragher's take on Mane. The Senegal international has been a superb player for Liverpool over the years for a number of reasons.

Mane can score, create and play anywhere across the front line. He is a complete player.

Mane is having a very good season. The winger has scored 22 goals and registered four assists in 48 appearances.

He has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.20 across the 2021-22 club campaign. On another note, Liverpool will compete in the FA Cup final this weekend.

The Reds will have to defeat Chelsea at Wembley Stadium to claim the trophy. Hopefully Mane can propel the Reds towards another trophy.
