Mohamed Salah was asked about his contract negotiations in a recent interview but says that he won't comment on it because he wants to focus on the team.

Speaking to Sky Sports, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Liverpool forward was asked about his contract situation to which he replied by saying that he 'can't go into it.'

"I can't say yes and I can't say no. I have said many times before what I want. I can't go into it here as the team needs to win. I just focus on the team," said Salah.

"I talk to the manager, I know my job very well. I am almost the first one here and the last one to leave. I know what I am doing. I am just focusing on the team. That is the most important thing - to win trophies for this club.

"I can't be selfish now and talk about my situation. We're in the most important period of the season for the team. I focus on what's coming for the team."

Anfield Watch Verdict

It's very clear that Salah is not going to talk about his contract negotiations whilst the season is going on.

No matter what happens, he respects the club, the fans and Jurgen Klopp too much and if he openly talks about it then that may distract everyone in what could be a historic season.

Hopefully, this is a good sign that talks between Salah's representatives and the club are going well.

The Egyptian isn't the only person to recently comment on his contract, with Klopp saying that talks are still ongoing in his pre-Benfica press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch.

"The decisive parties are talking to each other and that is all I need. There is nothing new to add."
