"I know his mother loves Liverpool" - Djibril Cisse makes Kylian Mbappe transfer claim
Ex-Liverpool man Djibril Cisse wants to see Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe at Liverpool as the Frenchman continues to be linked with a move away from Parc des Princes.
Mbappe was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer, but the 24-year-old surprised the football world by signing a new contract with PSG. However, he continues to be linked with a move to Los Blancos, while Liverpool have also been mentioned as a potential destination for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
Speaking to Ladbrokes FanZone, as cited by the Express, Cisse believes Mbappe would cause 'so much damage' at Liverpool and also spoke about the Frenchman's mother's wish to see her son at Anfield.
“I really, really want to see Kylian Mbappe at Liverpool. I would love to see him at Anfield. In this team, he’d cause so much damage. I know that his mother loves Liverpool but the boy loves Real Madrid, so who knows where he will end up.
"But I want to dream about seeing him at Liverpool… and they say mothers are never usually wrong, so maybe we’ll see him in a Liverpool shirt soon!”
When quizzed about a move to Liverpool, Mbappe admitted that he held talks with the Reds while still a Monaco player.
"We talked a little bit, but not too much. I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favorite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco, I met them. It’s a big club."
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Liverpool's pursuit of Mbappe is no secret, with Jurgen Klopp a huge fan of the player. However, he'll cost in excess of £100m when he decides to leave PSG and is likely to become one of the highest-paid players in football history, putting him out of our grasp.
Additionally, Liverpool have other priorities to address this summer, with midfield reinforcements the need of the hour. Jude Bellingham has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Anfield, while Matheus Nunes and Mason Mount have also reportedly attracted interest. Only time will tell if Liverpool splash the cash this summer, but as things stand, it doesn't look likely that we'll make a move for Mbappe in the near future.
