"I give my all every day" - Alisson on representing Liverpool
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has opened up on the role that he plays for the club.
The Reds signed the Brazil international from Roma for a transfer fee of £56.25 million back in the summer of 2018.
Since then, Alisson has gone on to keep 83 clean sheets in 175 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
The Reds have also won five major trophies since the shot-stopper's arrival. In other words, Alisson has been very important to Liverpool's recent success.
Despite that being the case, the 29-year-old has remained humble.
Alisson told UEFA the following: "I came here to reach my potential and achieve great things, which is what I have done.
"I don't really know how to gauge my importance to the team, but what I can say is that I give my all every day with a lot of passion and dedication with the knowledge that I can contribute something to the team, and that the team is dependent on all the pieces of the puzzle working well."
Anfield Watch Verdict
As we have pointed out, Alisson has been a superb player for Liverpool over the years.
The goalkeeper is having a very good 2021-22 campaign, also. Alisson has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.80 across all competitions.
The exciting thing about the Brazil international is that he is only 29 years of age. His career is far from over.
Alisson's current contract expires in the summer of 2027, which backs up the aforementioned argument.
The only real issue with Alisson being terrific and reasonably young is that Caoimhin Kelleher can't consistently get a game for Liverpool's first-team.
But, it is a good problem to have. You can never possess too many good players within your squad.
The Reds are blessed with squad depth these days.
