Sheyi Ojo has sent a touching farewell message to the Anfield faithful.

The winger's Liverpool contract is set to expire in June 2023. However, Ojo has confirmed that he will be departing Liverpool this summer.

He posted the following message on Twitter: “I feel blessed to have played at this club. Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly the unconditional support from the fans.

“I joined Liverpool when I was 14. Never could I imagine the journey it would take me on.

“Never stop dreaming.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Ojo never got going at Anfield. The winger scored one goal and registered four assists in 13 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Ojo has always been behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in the pecking order.

Therefore, the 24-year-old has been loaned out to numerous clubs. Ojo played under Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard at Rangers between 2019-20 (loan spell).

The former Red certainly rates the youngster.

"He gives us real pace and power down that right-hand side, so I’m pleased for him to score a debut goal on the back of such a strong performance," Gerrard said back in July 2019, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“Sheyi has got all the attributes and if this doesn’t work, it will be because of Sheyi. He’s got everything in the locker, he is quick, strong, powerful. You know he is going to take on tactical information, you see him chasing back and making fouls and getting yellow cards.

“He knows that he needs to make this work. He is delighted to be here, he has settled in well. Now he has to build on that. Towards the end, I could see him coming down slightly. I want him to be ruthless from start to finish.”

As Gerrard's comments highlight, Ojo clearly has the potential to become a reasonable player. But, for whatever reason, he is yet to show everyone just how good he is on a consistent basis.

Hopefully Ojo fulfills his potential. Only time will tell if that is to occur. We wish him all the best for the future.
