"I dreamed of it" - Andy Robertson on his five-year anniversary at Anfield

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has reflected on his five years at the club.

The Reds signed the Scotland international from Hull City for a transfer fee of £8.10 million back in the summer of 2017.

Since then, Robertson has gone on to make 224 appearances for Liverpool's first-team and the left-back has won six major trophies with the club. The 28-year-old has developed into a superb attacking full-back under Jurgen Klopp.

Robertson has scored eight goals and registered 52 assists for the Reds. He recently opened up on his time at Anfield.

"I dreamed of it (winning trophies with the Reds), of course I did, but maybe it wasn't a reality. But the fact is that we've managed to turn it into reality," Robertson told the club's official website, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"I've maybe played a tiny part in that but the lads, the manager and everyone behind it, we've just pushed and we've obviously achieved a lot of great things. On that day it was a huge honour for me to sign for the club.

"A lot of people said that the club don't really win stuff without Scottish players, so obviously when I signed then I wanted to achieve it. The fact I can be a part of this club, it meant a lot that day and it still means a lot now.

"So, hopefully many more years to come. Five years have flown by. It felt like yesterday that I was signing and it’s crazy that that time has passed. I'm a wee bit older, a wee bit wiser now, certainly look a bit older now than the day I signed!

"I probably looked like a boy, now a wee bit older. It's amazing playing for this club, I don't want it to end, I want it to continue for as many years as I can. But five years is incredible but now I look to the next five. I'm always one to look forward!"

Anfield Watch Verdict

Robertson has to be one of Klopp's greatest ever signings. The full-back was an unknown quantity before joining Liverpool.

Now, Robertson is arguably one of the best defenders in the game. The Scotland international is contracted until the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.

Therefore, Robertson will have the opportunity to add to his Anfield legacy. It would be brilliant to see the 28-year-old end his career at Liverpool.

But, only time will tell if that is to the case.
