"I don’t think their attack will be any less potent" - Alan Shearer on the Reds

Former Newcastle United forward Alan Shearer has given his verdict on Liverpool's attack heading into the 2022-23 campaign.

Sadio Mane departed the Reds and joined Bayern Munich earlier this summer. However, Liverpool have added Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho to their attack.

Mohamed Salah has also agreed new terms with the club.

With that being the case, Shearer believes Liverpool will still be potent going forward this season.

As quoted by AW's Twitter account, he told the Liverpool Echo the following: "Liverpool also have a new-look forward line with Sadio Mane leaving and Darwin Nunez joining from Benfica. But I don’t think their attack will be any less potent than last season.

"A big reason for that is Mohamed Salah signing a new contract, which is absolutely huge for them and will be a big weight off his mind too.

"We might even see Salah playing better now, which is a frightening prospect for Premier League defences. But I still think City will have the edge come the end of the season."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Mane is a loss. The winger scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

But, the Reds have gone out and added a couple of attacking players to their squad this summer.

However, the most important piece of business Liverpool have completed in recent months is tying Salah down to a new deal.

The Egyptian international is a world-class forward. There is a reason why he has won the Premier League Golden Boot on three separate occasions.

So, we can't wait to watch Salah heading into the future.
