"I don't think so" - Jamie Carragher's prediction regarding the remainder of the window

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp won't sign anymore players this summer.

Liverpool have signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay in recent months.

However, Carragher doesn't see the club acquiring anymore players before the transfer window closes.

The 44-year-old also tipped Liverpool to sign a midfielder next summer.

“I don’t think so (if the club will acquire anymore players in the near future),” Carragher told the Sky Sports Essential Football podcast, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“I think they’d only go for a player they really wanted if he came on the market right now for whatever reason. I’m sure they’ve got something lined up for midfield next summer that’s why they haven’t done it this summer.

“They’ve certainly got the numbers in terms of midfielders but those numbers are getting over 30 and quite injury-prone, so you don’t see many of them playing or having a full season, so I think there will be a lot of chopping and changing in midfield. You’ll be surprised if any of them play over 30 games in that position because there’s so many options.

“I think Liverpool will go with what they’ve got. I think most will look at Liverpool’s first-choice team and think they could do with a quality midfield player to come in there, a different age than what Liverpool’s first-choice midfield is with (Jordan) Henderson, Thiago (Alcantara), Fabinho – Thiago’s out now at the moment – but they’re over 30."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Carragher. With the transfer window closing soon, we would be surprised if Liverpool signed anymore players.

With that being the case, the young footballers in and around the squad will be given plenty of opportunity to show off their talent.

We fully expect Liverpool to sign a midfielder next summer. As Carragher pointed out, the Reds do possess an ageing midfield.

So, the club will be forced to bring in a central player in the near future. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham.

Perhaps he is the midfielder that the Reds will target.
