“I don’t really like the attention" - Harvey Elliott on being a professional footballer

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has revealed that he does not enjoy the attention of being a professional footballer.

The Reds signed the 19-year-old from Fulham for a transfer fee of £1.53 million back in the summer of 2019.

Since then, Elliott has gone on to make 19 appearances for Liverpool's first-team. The Englishman certainly possesses plenty of talent, which is why he is in and around the first-team at such a young age.

With that being the case, Elliott is always being watched. However, he said that he is not a fan of the attention he receives.

“I don’t really like the attention to be honest. I leave it to my football,” Elliott told SoccerBible.

“I can take myself away from it and away from the pitch I need to be humble and confident in your own way, just as everyone else does, but when you’re on the pitch you need to have that swagger about yourself.

“My dad’s always drilled that into me – cross the line and that’s it, let your football do your talking. Have that confidence, have that swagger, but as soon as you come off you need to chill out, compose yourself and sort of come back down to earth.

“Be yourself and realise that, at the end of the day, no one’s better than anyone else in life. Some people are just fortunate in what they get to do.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Elliott has always come across as a humble person in his interviews, so we aren't surprised to hear that he does not like the attention he receives.

On another note, Elliott's 2021-22 season has been one of mixed emotions. The midfielder featured in Liverpool's opening four Premier League matches.

However, Elliott suffered a serious ankle injury against Leeds United at Elland Road. He missed 30 Liverpool games as a result.

But, Elliott has since returned, which is obviously great news.
