"I don’t have major concerns" - Rafa Benitez on Jurgen Klopp's team

Pundit Rafa Benitez has recently spoken about Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side.

The Reds have had a slow start to the 2022-23 Premier League campaign. Liverpool have only secured nine points from a possible 18.

However, Benitez believes that it is only a matter of time until the Reds hit top form again.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, he told The Times the following: "I don’t have major concerns about Jurgen Klopp’s side. People have asked me, ‘Are they tired from last season?’ Just look at the number of chances they had in the final 20 minutes against Everton and that answers that.

“There is increasing focus on Mohamed Salah. Again, had his shot gone in at the end of the Merseyside derby, rather than hitting the post, that would not be mentioned. Salah is, in many ways, a victim of the high standards he set for so long.

“It is clear injuries in midfield have been unsettling, while Darwin Nunez is still settling into the club. His recent sending off has impacted upon how quickly he has been able to build-up an understanding with new team-mates.

“But the positive from that situation is that he knows not to become involved with defenders again.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We hope that Benitez is right. Liverpool challenged for the quadruple last season.

So, our expectations on this side are quite high. Therefore, we have been disappointed with Liverpool's start to the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

But, Klopp's teams have never given up, which is why we are optimistic that the Reds will be back.

Also, Liverpool do possess a lot of quality, so the only way is up for the German's side as far as we are concerned.

Only time will tell if the Reds are to rediscover their best form. We wish Liverpool all the best ahead of their Champions League group stage clash against Napoli away from home tonight.
