"I did get a bit fatigued" - Liverpool man opens up after AC Milan clash

Liverpool centre-back Nathaniel Phillips made his first start for the season against AC Milan at the San Siro earlier this week.

The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes against the Serie A side.

With that being the case, Phillips admitted that he was "fatigued" come the end of the aforementioned Champions League group stage fixture.

Phillips told the club's official website the following: “I felt like I stood myself in good stead this evening. It was tough towards the end, I did get a bit fatigued – that’s going to happen when you play your first 90 minutes in a long time – but I felt overall I can be proud of my performance"

Liverpool ended up defeating AC Milan 2-1.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We can understand why Phillips was fatigued after the match. It would be difficult to go from playing very little football to playing a full game.

Liverpool possess plenty of centre-back options (Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate).

Therefore, Phillips is struggling to get an opportunity to play for the club's first-team this season.

We believe that the Englishman would be better off looking for a move away from Liverpool.

The aforementioned players are not going anywhere anytime soon. With that being the case, we don't see Phillips playing much football for the Reds in the near future.
