"I certainly think we're in a stronger place" - Eddie Howe ahead of Anfield trip

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has opened up ahead of his team's trip to Anfield.

The Premier League fixture between the Magpies and Liverpool will kick-off at 8:00pm BST tomorrow.

Last season, Newcastle United lost 3-1 to the Reds at Anfield. However, Howe believes that his players are in a much stronger place this time round.

"I certainly think we're in a stronger place than the (last) game against Liverpool at Anfield, when we were in a difficult position at that moment," he told Newcastle United's official club website, as quoted by AW on Twitter.

"We were just trying to stay in the game for as long as we could. I thought we performed well on the day but their quality won them the game. (Now) I think we're in a stronger place.

"The injuries are a concern to us, certainly for this game, I think we're slightly stretched. But I think we're unbeaten, the players are playing in a style of football and way of playing that I believe they've got confidence in.

"We will be extremely tested in this game, it will be a really good examination of us, but I see no reason why we shouldn't go there and give another good account of ourselves and play without fear."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Howe had only been Newcastle United's manager for just over a month before facing Liverpool at Anfied last season.

So, we do believe the 44-year-old when he says the Magpies are now in a better place.

Newcastle United secured a 3-3 draw against reigning champions Manchester City just over a week ago.

The Magpies are more than capable of getting a result against the best teams in the league.

Liverpool will have to be wary of Howe's team on Wednesday night. It should be an intriguing game to watch.

We wish the Reds all the best ahead of the fixture.
