"I can't take it for granted" - Harvey Elliott on League Cup celebrations

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has opened up on what it was like to win the League Cup.

The final was contested between the Reds and Chelsea at Wembley Stadium back in February. Jurgen Klopp's side ended up defeating Thomas Tuchel's team on penalties.

Elliott, who is a boyhood Liverpool fan, decided to celebrate with the supporters post-game.

The 19-year-old said that he won't take winning trophies with the Reds for granted.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo and Anfield Watch on Twitter, he said the following: “I think that's the fan in me, picking up the flare (which was passed on by the crowd). As much as I shouldn't have, it just happened. It was there and I picked it up and just wanted to celebrate.

“The amount of kids out there wanting those kind of experiences of playing in a final for Liverpool, I can’t take it for granted. As a fan, to dream of those experiences and then to have them, you just need to take the opportunities. I’m very happy I can do that.

“I don’t go into these things worrying about them too much, I just need to play my own game and make sure I can work as hard as I can.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Elliott is correct. Picking up the flare was wrong as they can be dangerous items. However, his intentions were good.

We love Elliott's passion for the club. Not every player that signs for Liverpool is fully invested, but, the Englishman certainly is.

On another note, Elliott has had a solid start to his senior football career at Anfield. The 19-year-old has already made 20 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Elliott did suffer a major ankle injury against Leeds United at Elland Road earlier this season. But, he has made a full recovery.

We wish Elliott all the best for the remainder of his career. He certainly has a bright future.
