"I am very sad for the team" - Ibrahima Konate on Liverpool's current form
Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has opened up on the team's recent form.
It is no secret that the Reds have struggled in the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign.
Liverpool's poor season continued last Sunday. Jurgen Klopp's team lost 3-2 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Konate said the following about the match and the season in general.
"Of course I am very sad for the team because we didn’t start very well this game. We tried to come back, 2-2, and after Arsenal scored one penalty," he told the Mail, as quoted by Anfield Watch.
"It’s very sad but we have to keep the head held up and keep going to work every day, every day, every day. Sometimes it’s like that, but we don’t give up now and we have to work again, again and again.
"Yes, of course it’s a lot (of frustration in the team). I think the start of this season, it (has not gone) very well and we did not expect that.
"After I was not really with the team in the last months (injury) and I cannot really explain this situation, but now I am back and I will try to do everything to help the team.
"Yes, of course I am very happy to be back. It was two long months but I want to thank all of the club’s medical group who helped me to come back good and stronger I hope."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Konate is correct. Watching Liverpool play at the moment is not easy. But, football is a game of ups and downs.
On another note, it is good to see Konate fit again. The centre-back suffered an knee injury back in early August.
Konate was out of action for a total of 55 days. The Frenchman appears to have fully recovered from the aforementioned setback.
Konate, 23, is arguably the future of Liverpool's defence. The youngster, who is contracted until June 2026, has the potential to be a top centre-back.
There is a reason why Liverpool paid €40 million for his services.
