"I am surprised" - Jack Wilshere questions one of Jurgen Klopp's decisions
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has questioned Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds came up against West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium last Sunday evening.
Liverpool forward Divock Origi came on as a substitute with 14 minutes left in the aforementioned Premier League fixture.
The Belgium international found the back of the net against the Hammers. However, Liverpool lost the clash 3-2.
After the match had concluded, Wilshere said that he was surprised Klopp does not give Origi more of an opportunity to play.
The 26-year-old has only played 273 minutes of football for Liverpool this season.
Wilshere told Premier League Football (6:46pm, November 7, 2021) the following: “It’s a great finish [Origi's goal]. I am surprised he has not played a lot more. I really like him.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Origi is a good forward. The Belgium international has scored 38 goals and registered 16 assists in 164 appearances for Liverpool's first-team, which highlights that he is a decent player.
However, the reality is, Origi is competing against the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota for a place in Klopp's starting XI.
Therefore, the striker is very much a squad player at Anfield. With that being the case, we don't agree with Wilshere's comment regarding Origi's playing time.
