Just when Liverpool were building up a head of steam, everything stopped.

One of the least enjoyed features of the footballing calendar, every year in September, international friendlies and qualifiers around the globe disrupt the domestic season before it barely has a chance to get going.

Still, Liverpool finished the first mini-chunk of the season unbeaten (three wins, one draw) and sit third in the table, behind only Manchester City in terms of points.

The Reds will resume activity on 16 September with a trip to Wolves, before their Europa League opener away at Austrian side LASK on 21 September.

Until then, it's international time, with the majority of Jurgen Klopp's first teamers involved in fixtures for their countries.
