Mohamed Salah earns over £1m per week in total income according to his agent and lawyer.

The Egyptian forward became Liverpool's highest-paid player of all time when he signed a new contract taking his weekly wage to a reported £350k a week back in 2022.

The negotiations leading to Salah’s Liverpool extension are the subject of a case study at the American university, Harvard Business School.

The Guardian reports that Salah's advisor Ramy Abbas Issa told the study that a figure equating to over £1m a week would be a “conservative” expectation of what the forward makes in overall income, including commercial deals.

The agent revealed: “We conservatively expect the total amount received by Mohamed and the image rights companies over the next few years from both his playing contract and his image rights contracts to be somewhere between €54 million [£46.8m] and €62m [£53.7m] per year.”

Abbas also gave details about how Salah considered leaving Liverpool before eventually agreeing new terms, with 'variable pay' based on appearances and performance-related goals one particular bone of contention.

The Harvard case study ends with a quote from Salah himself, who details how he was thinking during the negotiations.

“Renewing at Liverpool would be one of the biggest milestones of my career,” Salah is quoted as saying.

“But we have to do this the right way. I’ve learned throughout my career that if you want to be successful, it is important to invest in yourself not just physically but also mentally.

“That is true on the field, but also off the field. You have to control your emotions and be ready for the pressure.”

Salah's new deal takes his Liverpool contract up to 2025.

Despite interest from the Saudi Pro League, Salah has remained at Anfield for the 2023/24 season and has started the new campaign in fine form, with three goals and four Premier League assists so far.
