How Liverpool's dressing celebrated Mo Salah for 200 goals

Mo Salah hit his 200th goal for Liverpool on Saturday against Crystal Palace. Jurgen Klopp shared the dressing room atmosphere.

Mo Salah finally got Liverpool goal no.200 on Saturday as he equalised for the Reds at Crystal Palace. It's only been a two-game wait after no.199 but it did feel a little like a long-time coming given his standards.

But it's here now and Salah is officially the fifth Liverpool player in history to hit the mark. Only Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson and Billy Liddell have managed it before - the Egyptian will now see if he can catch any of them before he's done.

This was a massive moment, in other words, as Salah made yet more history at Liverpool. It understandably led to something of a celebration in the dressing room after the game and Jurgen Klopp shared what the atmosphere was like in his post-match press conference.

“Incredible number for a super special, super-super special player," said the Liverpool boss. "I don’t know how often he saved us with a goal he scored in the right moment.

“It was a pretty loud reception for him in the dressing room, when I gave him the shirt with the 200 on the back.

“The players were asking for a speech, but you’ll have to ask him if he gave one, because I had to go for media work then so I don’t know.

“But really, really special. Really happy for him."

Liverpool had brought that 200 shirt with them for the last few games now but hadn't had the chance to give it to Salah. Now that's finally done and Klopp feels it could have a positive effect on his star man.

“Now that’s off the shoulder, because when you have 199 it’s probably different to when you have 198," he said. "So now we can go for the next 100.”
