"Hopefully today we can show the good side" - Jurgen Klopp ahead of Ajax clash
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given thoughts ahead of his team's Champions League group stage clash against Ajax at Anfield tonight.
The Reds are coming off a 4-1 defeat to Napoli, which took place at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium last week.
With that being the case, Klopp is hoping to see an improved performance from his side tonight.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told Liverpoolfc.com the following: “The boys have been absolutely brilliant and that should not be forgotten, but at the same time we have to acknowledge that right now there is room for improvement.
“It may be that there are moments when we need a bit of extra help from our supporters right now because in the current situation it makes a lot of sense that we stick together. I think we have a crowd that is better than most at knowing when that is needed.
“So hopefully today we can show the good side of the face once again. Not because we think if we do that everything will suddenly be OK, but because we know that by doing the right things we can start to put things right. Let’s give it a try.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Klopp's comments certainly resonate with us. Tonight, we want to see Liverpool show why they competed for the quadruple last season.
The Reds were a shadow of their former selves in Italy last week. We have never seen Klopp's side outplayed like they were against Napoli.
But, Liverpool have the chance to put things right against Ajax tonight. We wish the team all the very best ahead of the fixture.
If the Reds play anywhere near their best, they should secure the three points. Only time will tell if that is to be the case.
