"He's what we've needed" - Jordan Henderson lauds 'outstanding' Liverpool midfielder

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has lavished praise on Stefan Bajcetic after the midfielder put up another stellar performance in the 2-0 win against Everton in midweek.

Starting alongside Fabinho and Henderson in the centre of the park, the young midfielder showed his class with a commanding all-round display and won the Man of the Match award for his performance. Speaking to Liverpool's official website, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Henderson lauded the 18-year-old for his outstanding performances since breaking into the first team this season.

"He’s been outstanding since he’s come into the team. [He’s] what we’ve needed over the last few weeks.

"Even though the performances haven’t been great, he’s been the one that has probably stood out and performed to the levels he’s capable of.

"[Against Everton he] was the same but the difference was that everybody stepped up and everyone else performed. When that happens, good things can happen. We deserved to win the game."

Bajcetic was also praised by Mohamed Salah after the Everton game, with the Egyptian maestro referring to him as Liverpool's standout player since making his debut for the club.

"Since Stefan started playing with us, he's been our best player. It's a huge win. It's huge for us. It's been a perfect week to train - we were all so excited. Hopefully, that is the start."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Bajcetic is clearly an unbelievable talent and has arguably been Liverpool's only positive so far this season. With Fabinho and Jordan Henderson not in the best of form and the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita struggling with injuries, Bajcetic's emergence has turned out to be a huge blessing for the club.

It's never wise to put too much pressure on a young player, but if the 18-year-old carries on performing like this, he could be a key player at Anfield for years to come.
