"He’s one that never panics" - Jonathan Woodgate praises Alisson
Pundit Jonathan Woodgate has recently had plenty of good things to say about Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.
The Reds signed the Brazil international from Roma for a transfer fee of £56.25 million back in the summer of 2018.
Since then, Alisson has kept 85 clean sheets in 180 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
The shot-stopper has also helped the club secure the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and League Cup.
In other words, Alisson has been a top all-round goalkeeper for Liverpool. With that being the case, we weren't surprised to hear Woodgate speak so positively about the 29-year-old.
As quoted by HITC, he told the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast the following: “If you see him in one vs one situations as well, he’s one that never panics, he makes the right decisions.
"He makes important saves and what I like about Alisson as well is that he never gets flustered, he’ll make mistakes, but he’ll still demand the ball.
“Some players will hide in that position, but Alisson gets back on it and starts dictating and making Liverpool play again."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Woodgate is spot on. Alisson is a top goalkeeper for a variety of reasons. But, we love his ability to stay calm under pressure more than anything.
All the best players in the world have the ability to relax regardless of the situation.
The exciting thing about Alisson is that his career is far from finished. The goalkeeper is only 29 years of age and his contract does not expire until the summer of 2027.
Therefore, the Anfield faithful will be able to sit back and watch Alisson for several more seasons.
