"He's not on the market" - Jurgen Klopp on reported Liverpool target

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken about Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old. However, Klopp made it clear that Borussia Dortmund won't allow Bellingham to leave this summer.

The England international's contract does not expire until June 2025.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp told Goal the following: "He’s not on the market, so that’s the first problem with that player. Well, that’s the only problem with that player!

“I don’t think something will happen in midfield, but you never know. If somebody comes to you and says ‘I want to go’, then - nobody came to me yet - but if that happens then we have to talk new.

“If the situation stays like it is, then tell me why (Liverpool would look to sign a midfield player)? I don’t understand. I do not understand. People told me about this discussion, but the last thing that would have crossed my mind is that we have to do this.

"I know all these things, that we ‘don’t score enough goals from midfield’, this and that, but what do we want? This ‘Golden Cow’ that is producing absolutely everything, milk as well!”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Bellingham would be a superb signing for Liverpool. The midfielder scored six goals and registered 14 assists in 44 appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first-team last season.

Also, Bellingham is only 19 years of age. Therefore, it would be fair to assume that he is far from the finished article.

But, going by Klopp's comments, Liverpool won't be attempting to sign Bellingham this summer.

Hopefully the Reds do make a move for the England international in the near future. On another note, Liverpool's pre-season is well and truly underway.

The club's first clash of the Premier League campaign is against Fulham at Craven Cottage on the 6th of August.
