“He’s got quality": Former Germany goalkeeper urges club to sign Red

Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese believes that Liverpool shot-stopper Loris Karius would be a good signing for one particular club.

Karius has not played for the Reds' first-team since the 2018 Champions League final. Liverpool lost the match 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev.

Karius was at fault for two of the three goals that the Reds conceded on the night.

The 28-year-old has been loaned out to Besiktas and Union Berlin since, but neither stint led to permanent moves away from Anfield.

Karius will be a free agent come the summer. Despite what has happened in recent years, Wiese believes that Karius still possesses plenty of quality, otherwise Liverpool would not have signed him from Mainz back in July 2016.

“In the top-flight, the club (Werder Bremen) would have to look for a seasoned keeper,” Wiese told Bild, via Fussball News .

“For me, Loris Karius would be one for Werder (Bremen).

“He’s a free transfer, hasn’t played for a long time. But, in Mainz, he showed what he’s capable of.

“He’s got quality, otherwise Liverpool wouldn’t have signed him.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It has been a difficult four years for Karius. He has not been able to find his feet since the 2018 Champions League final.

However, we are confident that Karius can return to his best. Obviously, Karius won't be representing Liverpool ever again.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has two very good goalkeepers to pick from in Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher. But, as Wiese pointed out, there is a reason why the German signed him from Mainz in the first place.

Back in 2016, Karius was named the second-best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga. We wish the German all the best for the future. Once a Red, always a Red.
