Gary Neville has praised Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola for keeping the same pace in the title race despite not having their preferred starting 11.

Speaking on Sky Sports, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the former Manchester United defender has praised the German, calling him 'clever'.

“Joe Gomez plays right-back, Mane’s on the bench, Diaz on the bench, doesn’t play Fabinho and brings him on later on, so he’s clever, Jurgen Klopp," said Neville.

“He’s got Benfica twice, he’s got Manchester City twice, massive games coming up. And he’s started to put a plan in place. But he’s got such a strong squad, great firepower.

“Liverpool and Manchester City are exceptional teams and they’re able to fall below their best and get the job done and do it comfortably. Because they’ve got authority and they’ve got strength right the way through the club. The managers are absolutely wonderful.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool's squad players have played so well this season and they're a massive reason why the Reds are still in so many competitions.

Fringe players like Kostas Tsimikas, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher, Takumi Minamino and more have all stepped up when Klopp has called upon them.

This is something we haven't really seen during the German's spell at Anfield but he will definitely appreciate it this campaign.

If the Reds do win the Premier League then we'll look at moments like Kelleher's clean sheet against Watford or Divock Origi's last-minute winner against Wolves as major moments of how we won our 20th league title.

No matter how many trophies we come away with this season, Klopp will be the first to say that every single player in the Liverpool squad has played a huge part in this season, even the youngsters from the U18/U21's.

This team deserve to win the quadruple so hopefully, they can win the next 15 games and create history.
