"He's brilliant" - Joel Matip on Roberto Firmino's recent form
Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip has praised Reds forward Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian has been in good form so far this season. Firmino has found the back of the net five times and secured three assists in nine appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
The 31-year-old has also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.23 across the early stages of the campaign.
With that being the case, Matip labelled Firmino as "brilliant" during a recent interview.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the club's official website the following: βHe's brilliant, a brilliant connecting player and now he scores even more. It's brilliant to have him in our side and even in a not-good game like today (against Brighton at Anfield last Saturday) he had some opportunities and used them."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Firmino has been a terrific player for Liverpool over the years. The forward has scored 103 goals and registered 77 assists in 336 appearances for the Reds' senior side.
Firmino has also won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup, FA Cup and Community Shield with Liverpool.
He will go down as a legend of the club. The Brazilian's contract expires next summer. Therefore, we have no idea where Firmino's future lies. Only time will tell.
