“He’s been disappointed" - Manager on Liverpool loanee
Millwall boss Gary Rowett has claimed that Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is "disappointed" with his lack of recent playing time.
The 24-year-old joined the Lions on a season-long back in the summer. However, Ojo has not been a regular starter for Millwall in recent games.
With that being the case, Rowett has said that the Englishman is a bit flat.
“Sheyi’s a player with such great potential both athletically and technically,” the Millwall boss told News at Den.
“I’m sure I’m probably sat here like Liverpool just wanting to see a tiny bit more consistent delivery of that. He’s a really good lad, he fits well into the group and works incredibly hard.
“He’s been disappointed not to have started in the last few.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Ojo has struggled since joining Millwall. The winger has scored no goals and registered two assists in 13 Championship appearances this season.
Ojo has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.38 across the 2021-22 Championship campaign.
Therefore, we are not surprised that Ojo has not consistently started for the Lions in recent times.
But, there is still plenty of time left in the season. Hopefully the Englishman can get himself back into Millwall's starting XI on a regular basis sooner rather than later. The reality is, you learn more by playing the game.
We wish Ojo all the best with the remainder of his loan spell.
