“He’s a player" - Luis Garcia praises Liverpool new-boy

Former Liverpool forward Luis Garcia has recently praised Fabio Carvalho.

The Reds signed the attacking midfielder from Fulham for a transfer fee of £5 million back in May.

Garcia, who has been watching Liverpool's pre-season intently, likes what he has seen from Carvalho thus far.

As quoted by AW on Twitter, he told the Liverpool Echo: “He’s a player who with the ability he’s got and the speed he’s got, he can play in every position on the pitch. If you play him in the midfield onwards he’ll be even better because he has that ability to score.

“He’s one of those players who you can play in so many positions. We’ve seen (James) Milner play in midfield, as a striker, almost as a goalkeeper and I think Carvalho is the same.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Carvalho was very impressive for Fulham last season. The attacking midfielder scored 10 goals and registered eight assists in 36 Championship appearances.

Carvalho also registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.12 across the 2021-22 campaign.

Therefore, we are confident that the boy will be a good player for Liverpool. However, it is important to note that Carvalho is only 19 years of age.

With that being the case, he will need some time to adjust to life on Merseyside.

Carvalho is still learning about his craft. He is far from the finished article, which is obviously exciting.

Carvalho is working under a world-class manager in Jurgen Klopp. We do expect him to improve at a rapid rate.

Liverpool will face Fulham at Craven Cottage on the 6th of August to kickstart their 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

If Carvalho gets an opportunity to face his former side, hopefully he can show them what they are missing.
