Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has given his thoughts on Darwin Nunez joining Liverpool this summer.

Speaking to 90min, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Forlan said that without a doubt, Nunez will score goals for the Reds.

“What can Darwin Nunez bring to Liverpool? Obviously he’s still a young player, he’s still growing. He has a great set of skills, he scored a lot of goals at Benfica. I believe that one of the things he can bring is, without a doubt, goals.

"Then, as time goes on, he’ll keep growing on the technical aspect. He will get to know his abilities better and he will develop them more and more too, while also gaining experience.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We are hoping he brings goals, Diego. Paying €100m for a striker and not getting goals is something that can't happen with this transfer.

Thankfully, his 34 goals with Benfica last season is a good indicator of what the Uruguayan will offer to Jurgen Klopp's side next season.

The fact that Nunez also scored six goals in the Champions League last campaign is very positive too. It proves that he can perform outside of the Primeira Liga.

Luis Diaz has done really well since joining the Reds from Porto so hopefully the Uruguayan can also adapt to life in the Premier League quickly.

Portuguese league players have a really good history of doing well in the English leagues so hopefully Nunez is another example of that.

We're sure that under the guidance of Klopp and his coaching staff that the 23-year-old will light the Premier League on fire next campaign.

Also, with Klopp having a full pre-season with Nunez, that will be a massive boost as the German can implement his tactics on the Uruguayan, something that has worked wonders with other Liverpool players in the past.
