"He'll be heading to" - Journalist rules out move for Premier League forward
It is unlikely that Liverpool will be making a move for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic this summer, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old in recent times. Jacobs said that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is an "admirer" of Pulisic.
However, the reporter further added that it is unlikely the American will be linking up with the Reds anytime soon.
Jacobs told the The Done Deal Show (24:10) the following: “I think if Pulisic is to depart Chelsea he’ll be heading to Serie A, not to another team in the Premier League. From Pulisic and his people’s perspective, Liverpool seems like a great fit, and make no mistake, Klopp is an admirer and sees the potential, but the notion that he’s seen as the replacement for Mane (reportedly on his way to Bayern Munich) is incorrect.
“Having put that link directly to a Liverpool source at a very senior level with huge knowledge of their recruitment, the response I got in one word was ‘nonsense’, so I don’t think that Liverpool are considering Pulisic in the context of Mane or outside the context of Mane.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Pulisic is a decent player. The forward has scored 25 goals and registered 19 assists in 115 appearances for Chelsea's first-team.
However, we strongly believe that Liverpool can do better than Pulisic. The reality is, the Reds competed for the quadruple last season.
Therefore, it would be fair to assume that most players in world football would be willing to sign for the club. Footballers want to be competing for the major honours in the game.
Hopefully Liverpool sign some quality players this summer. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
