"He is not integrated" - Didi Hamann on player Liverpool sold this summer
Pundit Didi Hamann has given his verdict on Sadio Mane's early season form for Bayern Munich.
The Reds sold the winger to the Bundesliga club for a transfer fee of £28.80 million during the summer transfer window.
Since then, Mane has scored five goals in 11 appearances for Bayern Munich.
However, Hamann has not been too impressed with the Senegal international's performances so far this season.
“He is not integrated. I saw him at Liverpool where he played through the middle. That is not his position. Now he’s taking that position at Bayern as well. He is at his best when he comes from the outside. He doesn’t look happy to me," he told GMX, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.
"Other players like Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala or, in defence, Lucas Hernandez, who is injured at the moment, are putting in outstanding performances.
“Nobody is talking about Mane at the moment. He seems isolated and hardly takes part in the game. FC Bayern has to get a grip on that.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We do agree with Hamann that Mane is naturally a winger and not a striker. But, the 30-year-old's statistics highlight that he has not been playing too poorly for his new team.
On another note, we do miss watching Mane represent Liverpool. The forward scored 120 goals and registered 49 assists in 269 appearances for the club's first-team.
Mane also helped the Reds win the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup and FA Cup.
He is very much a legend of the club.
