"He is a good boy" - Virgil van Dijk on Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk has given his opinion on new teammate Calvin Ramsay.

The Reds signed the right-back from Aberdeen for a transfer fee of €4.90 million during the summer transfer window.

However, Ramsay is yet to play for Liverpool's first-team. The 19-year-old suffered an injury before the 2022-23 campaign got underway.

But, Ramsay recently returned to full training. Van Dijk had the following to say about the youngster during an interview.

“I have seen him more outside of the training pitch than on the training pitch. But so far what I have known of him is that he is a good boy," he told The Scotsman, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

“He wants to work, he is learning each and every day from one of the best right backs in the country. He learns how we want to play, what we expect from a right-back in our way of playing.

“He needs time, but his time will come. I am not worried that. But he has been very positive towards everyone.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It is brilliant to hear that Ramsay is back in full training. When you arrive at a new club, you want to make a good impression out on the football pitch.

However, Ramsay has not been able to do that thus far. But, now that the defender is back in full training, he will get his opportunity to play for Liverpool's first-team at some stage in the near future.

Hopefully Ramsay can stay fit for the remainder of the campaign.
