"He could now go, for sure" - Pundit believes Liverpool star could depart

Pundit Danny Mills believes that Liverpool forward Sadio Mane could depart the club in the summer.

It has been reported that the Senegal international fears that Fenway Sports Group want to sell him as a result of his contract situation.

Mane would like to sign a new long-term deal, but nothing has been agreed yet. The winger's current contract expires in June 2023.

With that being the case, Mills is under the impression that Mane could leave Anfield come the summer.

“What Liverpool have done with their transfer policy and the players they have brought in is prepare for what’s after Mane, what’s after Mo Salah,” the 44-year-old told Football Insider.

“With the signings they’ve brought in you can understand it. Luis Diaz looks a real player with out-and-out quality. He can play through the middle and off either wing.

“It’s good recruitment and good planning from Liverpool, looking at the long-term.

“Mane and Salah are not going to go on forever. There will come a point where they will have to be replaced, for whatever reason, and that might be in 18 months time or it could be in two or three years time.

“They are putting into place things now to combat that. For whatever reason, if Mane is not happy and wants to move on, so be it. He could now go, for sure.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Mane has been superb for Liverpool over the years. The winger has scored 111 goals and registered 45 assists in 251 appearances for the club's first-team.

In the past, Mane has made it clear that he loves playing for the Reds.

"The team spirit is good and the confidence is here so I think we are in a good way," Mane told Liverpool's official matchday programme back in 2018, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

"Every single player is always very happy playing with each other. We always try to help each other and we work as a team.

"I think that is the team's power and the team's purpose. Every single player would love to play in this team."

Mane has also been in solid form this season. The Senegal international has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.27, which highlights that he is still performing to a very high level.

Therefore, we don't want to see the club and Mane part ways anytime soon.
