"He can get exploited defensively" - Pundit on Liverpool defender
Pundit Tim Sherwood has recently analysed Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The former manager believes that the 22-year-old gets exploited defensively from time-to-time.
Sherwood provided an example from last weekend's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, which took place in North London, to back up his argument.
As quoted by HITC, Sherwood told Premier League Productions the following: “As good as Trent is going forward. I think he can get exploited defensively.
“They (Tottenham) were making runs in-behind him and I thought it caused them a problem on the switch.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We agree with Sherwood that Alexander-Arnold is a superb player going forward. The right-back has found the back of the net 12 times and registered 54 assists in 198 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
We also agree with Sherwood that Alexander-Arnold can be exposed defensively. The reality is, the 22-year-old does play very high up the pitch, so he will leave space in behind from time-to-time.
Also, it is worth pointing out that Alexander-Arnold was a midfielder as a junior. Therefore, the Scouser is still learning about the art of defending.
With that being the case, we strongly believe that Alexander-Arnold will continue to improve his game over time.
