Harvey Elliott told data has him at 'very high level' in four areas
Harvey Elliott stole the show for England Under 21s on Tuesday evening. Boss Lee Carsley was full of praise afterwards.
England Under 21s comfortably beat Northern Ireland Under 21s on Tuesday. They ran out 3-0 winners at Goodison Park, with all three coming from Liverpool players.
Tyler Morton grabbed the first - a fantastic hit from the edge of the box for his first competitive goal. Then it became the Harvey Elliott show.
Elliott made it 2-0 by sending a free-kick home and then wrapped things up in the second half with a delightful chip over the goalkeeper. Notably, Morton provided the assist for that one.
Liverpool's no.19 is now thriving at international level - well, U21 level at least. He's now got five goals in his last four appearances and regularly looks like the best player on the pitch.
Manager Lee Carsley isn't exactly surprised. He talked after the game about Elliott, highlighting just how well he's playing and how the data shows him playing at a 'very high level'.
“It’s important he keep scoring and assisting because he’s going to be that kind of player,” he said, per beIN Sports.
“His stats and data for us are very, very high in terms of his attacking actions around the box, the amount of chances he creates for other players but more importantly, his work rate and the way he presses the ball.
“He has to keep scoring and assisting, it’s a big part of his game. The most important thing for a lot of the players is just staying in the race.
“Making sure you keep yourself fit, making sure your attitude is in the right place and you’re trying to make yourself selectable.”
Elliott is becoming more and more prominent for both club and country. While he's not quite a regular for Liverpool, there's no question that he's increasingly making things happen for the Reds whenever he's on the pitch.
It's even more obvious when he's playing for England U21s and the data backs that up. It won't be long before he's starting to dominate Premier League games in the same way.
