Harvey Elliott reveals why Mohamed Salah 'wasn’t the happiest' despite win over Fulham

Liverpool's thrill ride of a 4-3 win over Fulham at the weekend sent almost everyone connected to the club into ecstasy, but Mohamed Salah was still left wanting a little more.

The Reds scored four goal-of-the-season contenders and came back from 3-2 down with less than five minutes of regular time, in game that is set to be remembered for many years to come.

Trent Alexander-Arnold took centre stage as the hero after smashing in the winner on 88 minutes, while his 30-yard free kick (later credited as a Bernd Leno own goal) opened the scoring.

Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo both got their first goals for the Reds in memorable fashion, with the former admitting his lashed strike from range was best he'd ever scored.

However, perhaps the most surprising thing about the Reds' goalscorers on the day was that Salah wasn't among them.

Though he did get an assist, the Egyptian couldn't add to this ten Premier League strikes this season – a fact which frustrated him, according to teammate Harvey Elliott.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Elliott said: “You know Mo always wants to score but he got an assist, and even in games where he doesn’t score he’s popping up with an assist or something.

“He wasn’t the happiest, but as I said before, it can’t just be the forwards who score. We all need to chip in. It may not have been Mo’s day, but the other boys delivered.”

Salah's mentality when it comes to goalscoring is well-known and the forward would've had special cause to be gunning for Fulham on Sunday.

One more goal would’ve seen him hit the milestone of 200 for Liverpool and 150 in the Premier League.

Should he achieve the feat at Sheffield United on Wednesday, Salah will go level with Michael Owen in the top ten Premier League goalscorers of all time.
