Harvey Elliott doesn't like his new label at Liverpool but the youngster will put up with it. He's been in fine form of late.

Harvey Elliott is enjoying a really solid season at Liverpool. The highlight came at the weekend as Elliott left the bench to score a 91st-minute winner against Crystal Palace.

Jurgen Klopp put his faith in the midfielder to change the game and he did just that. Elliott was the player who earned Jordan Ayew his second yellow, he didn't misplace any of his 24 passes, and he popped up with a fantastic goal to win the game.

It was brilliant and it has people labelling Elliott as a 'super sub'. He's played 13 Premier League games this season but started just one - this great run of form has come almost entirely from the bench.

No wonder, then, that people see Elliott as a 'super sub' - the only problem is that he doesn't want that label.

"For me, I don't really want to be known as a super sub," he told a press conference on Wednesday. "It's a great headline as well, it's a nice one, but at the same time I want to be in the team.

"It's time for me to establish myself in that position again and hopefully get a good run of games. At the same time, I need to be patient as well and maybe be the super sub at the moment.

"I just need to keep enjoying my football, keep playing with a smile and if it is 'super sub', fine. I'll happily come on and do whatever I can for the team. I'm just happy to be putting the shirt on but yeah, this season I really want to kick on my game."

It's the right attitude to have - something that can be said about Elliott throughout his career. He is thrilled to contribute but ultimately, he wants this form to lead to more for him.

It almost certainly will do. Elliott is playing so well and contributing in just about every game - it's only a matter of time before Klopp utilises him from the start of Premier League games on a consistent basis.

That's a role Elliott has earned. Even if he's had to do it as a 'super sub'.
