Harvey Elliott calls on Anfield atmosphere ahead of Manchester City clash

Harvey Elliott believes Anfield will be a 'massive help' as Liverpool look to come out of this afternoon's title six-pointer as victors.

Taking on Manchester City in what will be Jurgen Klopp's final Premier League outing against eternal rival Pep Guardiola, the Reds will feel a result is needed as they look to regain top spot from Arsenal.

While the likes of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are back in the fray, the Reds will still be without a smattering of key names for the contest - with the likes of Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and potentially Ibrahima Konate sidelined.

With the odds seemingly against them, Elliott has called on Anfield to bring its A-game and push Liverpool to what could be a crucial victory.

"It's two world-class managers going head to head," Elliott said. "But, you know, it's at our home and the gaffer has the fans behind us.

"They are going to be right behind us from the first warm-up and there is no better place to have the final clash. You could say that so we just need to make sure we're all there ready.

"You know, with City, it's a tough game, we know that, but I don't think we can big it up more than any other game. We just focus and not over-analyse or think about it too much.

"We just need to go out and play the way we play, play our football with Anfield behind us. It's a massive help so we just need to go out and do our own thing.

"We can't big it up too much. It's a massive game, of course, but we're a massive club as well, and we just need to be thinking about ourselves. It is about recovery now and then we start thinking about the weekend."

Elliott has also been sure to send praise in the direction of Darwin Nunez, who marked his return to action last week by saving Liverpool's skin against Nottingham Forest with a 99th minute winner.

And after a brace of belters against Sparta Prague in midweek, Elliott can't wait to see what the Uruguayan can go on to achieve.

"He has always had the skill and the quality, I just sometimes think it was a confidence thing," Elliott added.

"Now he is showing it. He scored a massive goal at the weekend and came up with another great performance in Prague. He just needs to keep going and we will support him all the way.

"We know what he is capable of - he is a massive player, hence the price tag and why Liverpool brought him in.

"He is only going to get better if he keeps the confidence going."
