Belgium goalkeepeing coach Jean-Francois Gillet has praised outgoing Liverpool forward Divock Origi.

The club has confirmed that the 27-year-old will depart Anfield on a free transfer this summer.

It has been reported that Origi has agreed to join AC Milan. The Belgium international was a very handy player for Liverpool over the years.

Origi scored 41 goals and secured 18 assists in 175 appearances for the club's first-team. He also won six major trophies with the Reds.

Gillet has recently provided an insight into why Origi is the player that he is today.

He told Gazzetta the following: “When I met him he was 17 and he was always on his own, but we got along right away. A serious, intelligent, hard-working boy, and on the pitch he is like a hawk. He is capable of not touching the ball for eighty minutes, only to hurt you in the last five.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We will miss Origi. The forward had been a squad player for the Reds in recent years.

But, Origi never publicly complained about his role. You need those type of players in your squad, as not everyone can be a regular starter.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp labelled Origi as the club's "best finisher" in front of goal back in April.

"He (Origi) is a legend on and off the pitch. Fantastic footballer, a world-class striker and is our best finisher," the German said, as quoted by ESPN.

"Everyone would say the same. You see this in training. It is a really hard decision to make to leave him out. Everyone loves Divock here."

We wish Origi all the best with his move to AC Milan. He has always given his all for Liverpool. Therefore, he will always have the support of the Anfield faithful.
