"Great fit for Liverpool" - Neil Warnock on Premier League forward
Former Premier League manager Neil Warnock believes that Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha would be a "great fit" for Liverpool.
The 29-year-old is certainly a decent player. Zaha has found the back of the net 77 times and registered 72 assists in 419 appearances for Crystal Palace's first-team.
The Ivory Coast international has also been in decent form this season. Zaha has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.89 across the 2021-22 club campaign.
With that being the case, Warnock is under the impression that the forward could add something to Jurgen Klopp's side.
"His ability is second to none, unbelievable," the 73-year-old told talkSPORT (March 14 11.50am).
"Whilst Palace have him in their squad, they think they’re a Premier League club – he’s been the one world-class player in that side. As a manager playing against him, when he gets the ball, you’re always frightened.
"I think he would’ve been a great fit for Liverpool. Look at the lad they’ve just signed (Luis Diaz), they’re very similar."
It is important to note that the Reds have not genuinely been linked with a move for Zaha.
Anfield Watch Verdict
We do agree with Warnock that Zaha is a good player. You don't consistently play in the Premier League for no reason.
But, all we will say is that if Zaha had what it took to make it at a big club, he would not have played the last seven years at Selhurst Park.
Also, the winger is 29 years of age. We don't see him improving. Therefore, Liverpool would be silly to make a move for Zaha.
Besides, the Reds are stacked with attacking options (Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diaz). Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville labelled Liverpool's forward line as "dangerous".
The 47-year-old recently told Sky Sports the following: "Liverpool are really dangerous. I look at those five strikers they have got. They go into the last part of the season knowing they can win an awful lot of football matches with those five up front."
Zaha would be surplus to requirements at Anfield. This is a deal that we don't see happening.
