Ryan Gravenberch has today spoken of his recent delight at playing under newly appointed Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

In an interview with Liverpool FC, Gravenberch spoke of his enjoyment at playing a deeper role in midfield and the conversation between him and Slot regarding his position.

The Netherlands international featured in Slot’s first competitive fixture as the Reds boss, playing a full 90 minutes as the Reds eased to victory against new boys Ipswich Town.

Speaking on his conversations with Slot, Gravenberch revealed that “I had a little chat with him [Slot] and he said I have to focus on the No.6 and No.8 positions.”

“Now I play at No.6. In the past I played it aswell, so I know what I have to do. I’ve enjoyed playing there.”

Signed by Jurgen Klopp in his final season as Liverpool manager, Gravenberch made 26 Premier League appearances in his debut season for the Kopites, scoring once and failing to register an assist in an underwhelming start to life in the top- flight.

However, his start to life under Slot appears to have allowed the £34 million man to turn a corner.

Slot's relationship with the rest of the squad

The news of Gravenberch’s strong relationship with Slot comes days after an alleged disagreement between Quansah and the Liverpool boss.

The defender expressed his frustrations at his new boss last Saturday after being taken off early in Liverpool’s visit to Portman Road.

However, Slot has since denied any issue between the pair.

Speaking on the substitution, Slot stated that Quansah reacted “in a way you would expect a player to react. I spoke to him immediately after the game, I spoke to him the day after on Sunday and at the end of that conversation he asked if he could train on the Sunday.”

“The language was a problem because what I said was he did not lose every duel – but he lost one or two important ones, and one of them was just before half-time.”

“From what has been told to me, it's like that I said he lost every duel – which he did not do, we as a team lost too many duels and he lost one or two as well.”

Gravenberch is expected to feature for the Reds against Brentford on Sunday, whereas Quansah is set to miss out through injury.
