Gordan TALKS, Quansah DENIAL, Rodyrgo UPDATE - Liverpool transfer news today
Here’s our Liverpool FC transfer news recap for Saturday, 29 June. The Reds have been in talks for Anthony Gordon.
Some major reports on Saturday as Liverpool were said to be in talks for Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon. Not only that, but Jarell Quansah was at the centre of things, too.
Here's our Liverpool FC news recap for Saturday.
Liverpool in Gordon talks
Liverpool are in talks with Newcastle United over Anthony Gordon - but a sticking point has seen the Reds back down.
The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool were in talks with Newcastle United this week over a move for Anthony Gordon. The England star is a boyhood Red and has openly talked about it.
And Gordon is aware of the talks. While he's not pressuring Newcastle into a sale, the feeling is that he'd be very open to moving to Anfield, despite his Everton past.
Quansah to stay
Liverpool do not want to lose Jarell Quansah as they believe he has a very bright future. They’ll be holding onto him - despite an offer.
The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool rejected the chance to sign Anthony Gordon this weekend, primarily because the Magpies pushed for Jarell Quansah to be in the deal.
The Reds aren't willing to part with the centre-back, ending discussions. While they could resume, Quansah won't be a part of them.
Calafiori to leave Bologna
Fabrizio Romano confirms that one of Liverpool’s supposed targets this summer in Riccardo Calafiori will be on the move - or at least, his club believes so.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Riccardo Calafiori this summer. It's one that has received quite a bit of spotlight, too, thanks to his performances for Italy at Euro 2024.
But there's certainly more than just a few games to get hyped about. Calafiori was one of the standout players for Bologna last season as they enjoyed a remarkable rise that resulted in a UEFA Champions League spot.
Liverpool target Rodrygo could depart
Real Madrid’s Champions League-winning forward Rodrygo is reported to be losing faith that he will have a starting place at the club next season, prompting speculation that he could soon QUIT the Bernabeu.
A report in Sport suggests that the 23-year-old does not fully believe that new signing Kylian Mbappe will always play as the team’s No.9 and will instead drift to the wings, placing Rodrygo’s status in Carlo Ancelotti’s preferred starting XI under threat.
Rodrygo is currently experiencing a difficult time at the Copa America with Brazil, where the pre-tournament favourites suffered an opening day draw against Costa Rica.
