"Gone to a totally different level" - Michael Owen on reported Liverpool target

Pundit Michael Owen has praised West Ham United winger and reported Liverpool target Jarrod Bowen.

The 25-year-old scored 18 goals and registered 13 assists in 51 appearances for the Hammers last season.

Bowen also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.09 across the 2021-22 campaign.

Therefore, we weren't surprised to hear Owen recently praise the Englishman.

“He’s had such a good season,” he told Channel 4.

“Not that many players that just totally change in their mid 20’s and become unbelievable players.

“Don’t get me wrong, this season, he has just gone to a totally different level. I love the way he moves from out to in.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We would not be against Liverpool making a move for Bowen. He is a solid footballer after all.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has made it clear in the past that he is a fan of Bowen.

"I like Bowen a lot," the German said last season, as quoted by The Mirror.

"He made his way up from Hull and took not too long to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League. He made big steps."

Also, it has been reported that Sadio Mane is set to depart the club and join Bayern Munich this summer.

Therefore, Klopp might need to replace the Senegal international. Perhaps Bowen will be the man that Liverpool attempt to sign to potentially succeed Mane.

But, only time will tell if Liverpool are genuinely interested in the winger. Bowen's contract expires in the summer of 2025. The 2021-22 season has just concluded, so we don't expect the club to rush into anything in terms of transfers.

At Anfield Watch, we are enjoying a bit of a break from the football, as it was a chaotic season for Liverpool.
